A Gardiner man who robbed a Rite Aid pharmacy in Bridgton last Thanksgiving pleaded guilty on Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Portland to a felony charge of interference with commerce by robbery.

Robert Richard, 26, entered the Rite Aid pharmacy on Nov. 28, 2013, wearing a hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, sunglasses and a bandana over his face as he handed a note to the pharmacist that said, “All your oxycodone now!” according to a prosecution document filed with the court this month.

“The pharmacist placed several bottles containing oxycodone pills inside a bag and handed the bag to the defendant, who then quickly left the Rite Aid and fled the scene in

a car with a concealed license plate,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Julia Lipez wrote in the document.

Richard was arrested on a warrant on Sept. 25 and has been held in federal custody since. He entered his guilty plea before Judge D. Brock Hornby.

Richard will face as much as 20 years in federal prison and a fine of as much as $250,000 at sentencing.
