Three Buxton men face charges after Cumberland County’s emergency services unit was called in to help serve a high-risk search warrant Saturday as part of an investigation into a stolen .22-caliber handgun and a laptop.

Cumberland County Sheriff’s deputies and Buxton police along with Maine Drug Enforcement Agency detectives obtained a search warrant for 68 Hurlin Smith Road in Buxton. When they tried to serve the warrant, nobody would come to the door. Believing there were guns inside and a child, officers retreated and called in the tactical team and a negotiator.

After several hours, three men came out with the child. A search of the house turned up the laptop and several guns, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.

Police charged Dale Pinkham Sr., 54, with violating bail conditions, endangering the welfare of a child and creating a police standoff. He was released on $5,000 bail pending a future court date.

Police charged Robert Pinkham, 19, with possession of stolen guns and he is being held at Cumberland County Jail on $5,000 bail.

Police charged Raymond Pinkham, 21, with endangering the welfare of a child and creating a police standoff. He is free on $500 cash.

The sheriff’s office said it plans to charge all three with burglary and theft and the younger two men with criminal mischief.
