Sanford police turned to social media on Saturday to locate an 81-year-old man with dementia who had disappeared from his home.

The department asked readers of its Facebook page to help locate Roger Quirion of George Avenue, who was reported missing around 4 p.m.

According to the Facebook page, Quirion had been raking leaves in his yard when he wandered off on foot and disappeared.

He was located about an hour later on Twombley Road, police said, thanking Facebook readers for their help.
