RICHMOND — Longtime Brunswick High School boys soccer coach Peter Gardner told his son that 200 coaching wins means “that you’re getting old.”
Richmond High School baseball leader Ryan Gardner, in his 17th season leading the Bobcats, led his team to a 10-2 East-West Conference win on Tuesday, giving the coach his 200th coaching victory.
Richmond (6-1) trailed 2-1 entering the seventh, but scored nine runs on nine hits for the come-frombehind win.
“We were asleep and flat after the bus ride, but in the seventh we just said no one will make the last out,” said Ryan Gardner, whose squad hosts Buckfield on Thursday. “It was a good win, and nice to get the 200th win.”
Tyler Soucy had three hits and three RBIs for Richmond, with Bailey Johansen picking up two hits, including a seventh-inning triple. Curtis Anderson singled twice, and pitcher Mike Stewart went the distance with 15 strikeouts, four walks and four hits allowed.
Dylan Belanger led Valley (3-2) with two hits, including a double. Pitcher Luke Malloy was solid for six inning, permitting three hits and two walks with nine strikeouts.

At Augusta, Tayler Carrier led at the plate and on the mound as the Rams defeated Brunswick in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference game on Tuesday.
Carrier struck out 10, walked one and allowed just two hits. At the plate, Carrier homered and scored both runs.
Brady Larson took the hard-luck loss for the Dragons, who fell to 5-5 with their third consecutive loss. Larson also struck out 10, walked one and permitted just two Cony hits.
Charlie Lowell doubled for Brunswick, which hosts Skowhegan today at 4 p.m.
