Seven York County law enforcement officers were among the 23  officers and agencies to be recognized today by U.S. Attorney for Maine Thomas E. Delahanty II.

The annual law enforcement recognition ceremony, held at the U.S. Attorney’s office in Portland, recognizes federal, state, county and municipal law enforcement officers who have performed “outstanding service in investigations and have served the people of Maine in an exemplary fashion,” according to a statement from Delahanty’s office.

Among those honored for their work on what Delahanty characterized as “eight high-profile, unusual and difficult cases” are York County Sheriff’s Office Detective Sgt. Michael Hayes, South Berwick Police Lt. Christopher Burbank, Kittery Police Officer Steven Hamel, and York Police Department Detective Sgt. Thomas Cryan, Detective Mark Clifford and Sgt. Steven Spofford.
