As a new resident to York County, I recently attended the Democratic forum held at the Kennebunk Town Hall on Thursday, May 15. I was pleased to hear Dana Lajoie’s opinion on many different concerns currently going on with York County. I was also happy to hear his vision and ideas on ways to help resolve the challenges the county continues to face.

Lajoie is a lifelong resident of York County and takes pride in his community. He enjoys working with the people, especially the children and elderly in his town. As the chief of police in South Berwick, Lajoie and his department have helped make South Berwick one of the safest places to live in Maine. Partnering with the schools and local senior centers is a key focus for him, and he continues to work with the agencies to help promote new programs and better the systems while keeping an open line of communication.

New programs that Lajoie has helped promote in the community are the Yellow Dot Program, a program that lets emergency personnel know that you have enrolled and should have a packet of vital information in your glove box. Another program that he has helped implement is the SoberTip Progam, a program that allows citizens to anonymously submit crime-related tips through the web, a text message, or from any Android or iPhone mobile device with the free TipSubmit app.

Along with these programs, Lajoie has helped bring new technology to the department to enable the police officers to be more effective in their daily tasks. Communication within their town and surrounding communities is critical for these men and women to do their job.

Lajoie’s leadership, skills, experience and dedication will bring success to the county.

Vote Lajoie on Tuesday, June 10 for York County sheriff. Every vote counts, and your vote can make a positive change for not only the county but for your community.
