It’s that time again! The Democratic voters of York County have to choose another sheriff. One of the finest sheriffs in the history of this storied county is retiring. I will miss Sheriff Maurice Ouellette. Luckily, his chief deputy, William “Bill” King is in the running to take his place.
King has a tremendous amount of experience in law enforcement and is well-versed in crime involving fraud against senior citizens, and the surging drug-related crime we have seen in recent years. He has been assistant director of the Maine DEA and special agent-in-charge for the U.S. Department of Justice.
Besides earning a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, he has a master’s degree in management, which qualifies him to run a fiscally fit and efficient operation.
I met King for the first time last month, and I was impressed by his dynamic personality, energy and warmth. He struck me as a regular guy who has worked hard throughout his life and is the best qualified individual for York County sheriff.
