BRUNSWICK

Crews are performing a routine inspection on the Frank J. Wood Bridge between Brunswick and Topsham today and Thursday and detouring northbound traffic.

The Maine Department of Transportation this morning announced the all-day inspections, which will require northbound traffic over the bridge to be detoured via the Topsham coastal connector and Route 1. Northbound motorists may experience slight delays during the two-day inspection of this bridge due to the detour.

The bridge will be reduced to one lane so all southbound traffic will flow as normal with no detours.

Northbound traffic is traffic heading towards Topsham from Brunswick. This is the same traffic detour that was used during the inspection in 2012 and is part of the federally-mandated biannual bridge safety inspection program for truss-style bridges throughout the state.
