Bath’s Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) and the Bath Police Department will again host the annual Bath Safety Day & Bike Rodeo on Saturday, June 7.

The rodeo is 10 a.m. until noon at the Bath Parks & Recreation Department, located at 4 Sheridan Road in the parking lot behind St. Mary’s Church on Lincoln Street.

VIPS will provide free hot dogs and water, and several new bikes will be raffled off. There also will be free helmets, fitted by professionals from Merrymeeting Wheelers. Bath Cycle & Ski will perform free bike tuneups, and water bottles and bike reflectors will be provided and distributed to the estimated 200-300 participants, compliments of Mid Coast Hospital Access Health.

The Bike Rodeo will be run by the Bicycle Coalition of Maine and the Merrymeeting Wheelers, with the assistance of crew members from the USS Zumwalt. Also participating at the event is the U.S. Coast Guard, Sagadahoc County Sheriff ’s Office, Bath Fire and Rescue, Bath Police Department with a K-9 demo, Mid Coast Hospital, DARE, Maine Eastern Railroad, American Red Cross, Bath Bicycle & Pedestrian Committee and the Universe Gym.

In case of rain, the event will take place in the gym at the recreation department, but the rodeo may be canceled.
