FALMOUTH — Stop-and-go traffic delays are expected on the Route 1-Martin’s Point Bridge this week, while CMP Construction Co. is constructing a new retaining wall for the bridge.

Traffic will be restricted to an alternating lane Wednesday-Friday, from 6:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Vehicles will begin to flow freely at 4 p.m. Friday, May 23, in anticipation of the influx of travelers for Memorial Day Weekend.

The bridge was constructed in 1943; the replacement bridge is now being built next to the existing structure and is expected to open to traffic next month.
