WISCASSET — Monmouth Academy (7-3) pounded out 18 hits for a 20-8 Mountain Valley Conference high school softball win over Wiscasset on Monday.

Becky Bryant singled, doubled three times and drove in three runs to pace the Mustang offense, with Shannon Buzzell picking up two doubles and a triple.

Tylan Onorato led the Wiscasset (1-10) offense with three singles, with Stephanie Jones adding a single and a double.

The Wolverines are slated to host Madison on Wednesday.

Allison King hit a two-run triple and pitched a threehitter for the Rams (5-5), who downed the Falcons (2- 8) in five innings at Freeport in Western Maine Conference play.

Meghan Dube added a pair of hits and scored twice for the Rams, who took advantage of 19 walks.

King struck out six and walked five for Kennebunk, which closed the game with a seven-run fifth.

Baseball

Monmouth plated four runs in the fourth inning to pull away for a rain-shortened MVC win at Wiscasset.

Nate Gagne, Nick Sanborn and Kyle Fletcher combined on a four-hitter in Mustangs (9-1) victory.

Chandler Longfellow and Daren Wood pitched, combining on eight hits, three walks and four strikeouts.

Wood drove in both Wiscasset runs with a single in the third to cut the Monmouth lead to 3-2. Conlon Ranta, Longfellow and Tyler Bailey added a single each.

The Wolverines are slated to host Madison on Wednesday for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
