MARINE CORPS AIR STATION CHERRY POINT, N.C. (AP) — Military personnel and sheriff ’s deputies in southeastern North Carolina are searching for a Marine who fell from an aircraft.

Marine spokesman Michael Barton says the search resumed today morning for the member of the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing who fell from the Osprey aircraft, which can take off like a helicopter and fly like an airplane.

Barton says the aircraft was conducting a training flight around 6: 30 p. m. Monday when the crew member fell about 45 miles west of Marine Corps Air Station New River.

Officials are trying to determine how the fall occurred.
