CORNISH — The third suspect wanted in connection with the beating and restraint of a Buxton woman in her home in April has surrendered to sheriff’s deputies.

Michael C. Crockett Jr., 30, of Buxton, walked out of the woods in Cornish Sunday night, after his attorney, Amy Fairfield, told York County Chief Deputy Bill King that he wanted to turn himself in.

Crockett was wanted on Class A robbery and Class B aggravated assault charges. Buxton Police had issued a warrant for his arrest late last week.

King, who stationed himself outside a convenience store in Cornish, spoke to Crockett by phone, while Sgt. Steve Thistlewood and Deputy Tom Searway waited near the woods where Crockett was hiding.

King this morning said he told the man he had to come out of the woods and deal with the charges. Crockett surrendered without incident.

King said Crockett was thirsty and had asked for Mountain Dew and chocolate milk ”“ which he supplied, when Crockett was taken into custody.

He is currently being held at York County Jail in Alfred in lieu of $20,000 cash bail and was scheduled to be arraigned via video sometime today.

Buxton Police Chief Michael Grovo said two others, Stacy Day, 35, of Buxton, and Gregory Hoar, 29, of Gorham, were arrested Thursday night. Both were charged with Class A felony robbery and felony Class B aggravated assault.

The victim was assaulted and tied up by two men and a woman, who reportedly left her on the floor after taking some money and fleeing her home on April 11.
