BIDDEFORD — Robert Alex Fournier, 66, of Cathedral City, Calif. and formerly of Biddeford, died on Nov. 19, 2013.

Alex “Bobby” was born in Revere, Mass., but grew up in Biddeford and graduated from Biddeford High School.

He was well known locally in the 1950s and ’60s for his dancing and artistic talents, and as a pupil of the Gladys Reuben School of Dance.

During his high school years, he was a dancer on the Dave Astor TV show in Portland. In Cathedral City, Calif., he taught dance to adults at the Desert Shadows RV Resort and staged special shows annually, until recently.

He was a loving and devoted caregiver to his Gary, who had Alzheimer’s for more than 12 years.

Alex’s creative and decorative abilities brought beauty and elegance to his world and to those who knew him.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Alexander G. and Theresa (Plessis) Fournier.

Also preceding him in death in 2011 was his married partner, Gary Hess of Cathedral City, Calif., the love of his life, after 36 years together.

He is survived by: his sister, Deborah E. Fournier of Biddeford; Gary’s children, Mike, Wendy, Justin and Kevin; and grandchildren, several aunts, an uncle, many cousins and friends.

A private burial was held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Cathedral City, Calif. In memory of Alex, please send donations to a charity of your choice.
