BRUNSWICK — Priscilla G. Belanger, 91, of Brunswick, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at Mid Coast Hospital with her family by her side.

She was born in Brunswick on March 21, 1922, a daughter of Edouard and Alfreda Martin Bernier. She attended St. John’s School graduating in 1934 and Brunswick High School, class of 1938.

On May 3, 1941, she married Raoul L. Belanger and they made their home in Brunswick.

Priscilla worked at Grant’s Department Store, Gosselin’s Furniture Store, Dave’s Taylor Shop, Bernier’s Lumber Shop, and for 30 years at Bowdoin College Business Office, where she became the burser, retiring in 1985. She also volunteered at Mid Coast Hospital for many years.

She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister; the Daughters of Isabella; Kennebec Art Club; and Merry Meeting Art Association.

Priscilla’s interests included painting which she started after retiring, with many of her works being sold at art shows and exhibits. She worked in both watercolors and oil and received her schooling at the Brunswick Rec Center in 1977, Bailey Night School in 1978, John Voter in 1980, Shirley Carpenter in 1983, Loretta Varney in 1987 and Calvin Taylor in 1988.

She was also an accomplished clothes maker, a follower of current events, and traveler, having visited many states and other countries. Priscilla always looked forward to and relished visits with family and friends, especially at holiday time with a packed house at Thanksgiving.

Priscilla was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be remembered for her honesty, integrity, faith, cheerfulness, and attention to detail. She said if she ever had it to do over again she would be a carpenter and get a college education.

She is predeceased by her husband Raoul, who died Oct. 30, 1989; a sister, Rhea Pelkey; and seven brothers, Andre, Remi, Armand, Robert, Evariste, Edward, and Henry Bernier.

Surviving are a daughter, Pauline Beaudoin and her husband Phil of Burlington, CT.; a son, David Belanger and his wife Dorothy of Oxford, MA; a sister Constance Elia of Brick, NJ; a brother, Antoine Bernier of Havelock, NC; a stepbrother, Dana Storer of Old Town; 5 grandchildren, Brigitte Kirk of Hoboken, NJ, Benjamin Beaudoin of Bellevue, WA, Angelique Carlson of Warren, MA, Shannon DeVaul of Woodstock, IL, and Andrew Belanger of Portland, OR; 9 great-grandchildren, Maxwell Kirk, Chasen Kirk, Shane Kirk, Madeline Kirk, Luke Beaudoin, Adam Beaudoin, Gabrielle Carlson, Liam Carlson, and Teagan DeVaul,; and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16th at Demers-Desmond Funeral Home, 34 Cushing St., Brunswick. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at All Saints Parish, St. John the Baptist Church. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s School Scholarship Fund, 39 Pleasant St., Brunswick.
