GEORGETOWN — Roger “ Putt” Maurice Pinkham passed away peacefully on November 25, 2011 at Mid Coast Hospital surrounded by his family. Putt was born on June 26, 1944 to Rudy and Georgetta Pinkham. He made his home in Five Islands, Maine and attended Georgetown schools.

Putt made his living off the ocean. Whether it was lobstering on boats or digging clams in the bay, he was a regular on the town dock in Five Islands where he was always a familiar face with a big smile and could be heard saying “Ahhhh…. Junior!!” Putt’s name for everyone and everything. Putt worked with Barry Moore on the boat for 15 years and also spent time on the boat with Howard Heald, Rob “Gomer” Tracy, and his brother, Ronnie Pinkham.

Putt enjoyed playing slowpitch softball and played for Five Islands Seafood for many years.

Never one for being bothered to get a license, Putt was Georgetown’s favorite hitchhiker. He always knew someone was going to be headed to the Island and he knew just where to wait.

Putt was always a gentleman and was liked by all. He especially enjoyed spending time with local friends Donald “Donk” Nichols, Gomer Tracy, and Alvin Moore.

Putt was an avid New York Giants and Boston Red Sox fan. He spent time in Fort Meyers, Florida during preseason baseball with Sam Crosby. This was something he enjoyed immensely.
