If you were unfortunate enough during the past few weeks to have a French fry or milkshake craving, you probably found out the hard way that Duckfat closed for renovations March 21. Well, rejoice, because the Middle Street favorite is scheduled to reopen Monday, April 5.

Speaking of French fries, Nosh, in the former White Heart space at 551 Congress St., offers them dusted with bacon. In fact, the menu has a fabulous selection of pork and pork-enhanced offerings. The Apocalypse Now burger, for example, comes topped with seared pork belly and cured bacon.

And speaking of bacon, I’d like to thank the chef at Black Tie Bistro and Market at the foot of Union Wharf for going out of his way to make chocolate-covered bacon for me recently. Delicious.

Siano’s Pizza is preparing to open it’s third location sometime in April. The restaurant, with locations on Stevens Avenue and on Main Street in Freeport, has taken over the former Una Winebar space at 505 Fore St.

The compact David’s 388, at 388 Cottage Road in South Portland, is expanding into the space next door that was formerly a barber shop.

In Falmouth, O’Natural’s is now Stonyfield Cafe, and the inside kind of looks like the outside of a container of Stonyfield Farms yogurt. Ownership remains the same – Mac McCabe and Stonyfield Farms CEO Gary Hirshberg – as does most of the menu. The cafe is at 240 US Route 1.

Also in Falmouth, Bernie’s Foreside Breakfast and Lunch is open on Route 1. It is attached to Mister Bagel. The other Bernie’s location is in West Falmouth at Falmouth Crossing, next to the Hannaford.

Pedro O’Hara’s in Freeport has closed. The sign in front of the Lower Main Street building says the Brunswick restaurant is open.
