AUGUSTA — Gas prices continue to fall in Maine.
Price-monitoring website MaineGasPrices.com reports Monday that gas in Maine fell nearly 3 cents last week, to $3.48 a gallon. That’s 20 cents lower than a month ago and 40 cents lower than a year ago.
Senior petroleum analyst Patrick DeHaan says prices could be volatile as long as the federal government remains shut down. He says this is the first week the government isn’t expected to release a weekly report on changes in supply and demand, meaning traders will be somewhat in the dark when it comes to trading oil futures.
The Maine price is based on a survey of more than 1,200 gas stations.
