WOOLWICH — Two men were arrested in Woolwich on drug charges after police stopped their car for speeding Saturday and uncovered drugs plus $20,000 in cash.

Cpl. Ian Alexander of the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office stopped a 2013 Honda Accord around 10:45 p.m. on Route 1 near the intersection with Arrowsic Road. The driver, Miguel Almonte, 25, of Methuen, Massachusetts, had a suspended license and was arrested. A search of the car, and its two occupants, uncovered small amounts of marijuana and cocaine and just over $20,000 in cash. The money was bundled in lots and tied with elastic bands.

Almonte was charged with operating after suspension and possession of a usable amount of marijuana. His passenger, Yasmin Navarro, 25, of Lawrence, Massachusetts, was charged with possession of schedule W drugs, cocaine. Both were taken to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.

They posted bail Monday – Almonte $500 and Navarro $1,000 – and are scheduled to appear in West Bath District Court on Jan. 6.

The case is under investigation.
