CONCORD, N.H. – Developers working to restore the Balsams resort say the historic hotel will once again host midnight voting for the 2016 presidential primary.

The nearly 150-year-old resort in Dixville Notch closed in September 2011, and its new owners are still waiting for permits for their extensive restoration plans.

Project spokesman Scott Tranchemontagne says the goal is to have a portion of the resort’s Dix House ready for the February primary, but voting also could be held in another building on the property.

He says all contents of the traditional ballot room have been preserved and could be set up elsewhere, and there likely will be a dozen or so resort workers living on the property who would vote.

The midnight voting tradition goes back to 1960.
